There are a lot of ways to approach a girls weekend. You can hit the city for an urban party vibe or hop on a plane for somewhere far away. Those are fun options, of course, but a weekend away in the Outer Banks allows you to do much more with less and still feel like you’ve escaped somewhere exotic. Chic rentals, waterfront spas, colorful food, and the epic wonders of the ocean will easily fuel a picturesque girls getaway you’ll frame up and remember forever.

Settle in Somewhere Sweet
Depending on your group size, a cute one-bedroom bungalow like this Tiny House would be perfect for two close friends who will spend more time out exploring than inside. The porch is the perfect place for sunset wine and cocktails. For larger groups, vacation rental spots like this 9-person bohemian spot in Kitty Hawk will allow your crew to spread out and make the place your own. For something more formal, reserve a row of rooms at Outer Banks inns like Tranquil House Inn in Manteo or ocean front hotels like the Oceanfront Ramada Plaza.

Get Outside
Seize the day and do something different. There’s more than the beach here. Consider flying high during a hang gliding experience at Jockey's Ridge State Park.  Kitty Hawk Kites can lead you through the experience where the Wright brothers took their first flights. Interested in hopping on a boat? Captain Marc Mitchum of OBX Crabbing & Shrimping Charters can guide you through an authentic, hands-on, and educational journey to see dolphin, osprey, pelicans and other fishies and creatures.  You may take turns catching some fresh North Carolina seafood along the way. Stretch your legs on land in the Kitty Hawk Woods Reserve.  Explore rare plants in the dreamy forests, maritime swamp, and interdune ponds. Connect and absorb the Outer Banks history while you’re here. If you’re up for a climb, challenge the girls to climb a lighthouse. The view and American history lesson is worth it.
