We are pleased to announce that the Outer Banks Tennis Association (OBTA) has partnered with Dare Hospice to host the region’s premier tennis tournament; The 15th Annual Outer Banks Charity Classic Tennis Tournament.  Over the course of the past 14 years, this event has raised more than $230,000 for Dare Hospice. The success of these tournaments is truly a result of broad-based community support.  We are also grateful for our sponsors; Townebank/Southern Insurance, the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, Duck Woods Country Club, Westside Athletic Club, Pine Island Racquet & Fitness Club, and Corolla Light Resort, as well as the competitive tennis players, local business contributors and countless volunteers.

Dare Hospice is a unit of the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services that provides comprehensive end-of-life care addressing the physical, emotional, relational and spiritual needs of patients and their families here in Dare County. Dare Hospice’s interdisciplinary group of skilled professionals work to make life’s final journey pain-free, dignified and comfortable.

The OBTA is dedicated to providing opportunities for everyone to get involved in the sport of tennis for both physical and educational purposes.  Expansion of current programs is essential to the growth of our mission by making tennis an accessible, affordable, family oriented activity in Northeast North Carolina.

The Townebank/Southern Insurance Charity Classic Tennis Tournament exemplifies our mission and was a proud recipient of the USTA North Carolina 2014 charity event of the year.  This year’s tournament will take place on October 20 – 22, 2017.
