Obtaining a Marriage License on The Outer Banks


Marriage licenses are issued by the Register of Deeds in the Dare County Justice Center, 962 Marshall C. Collins Dr., Manteo. Both parties must be present at the office to apply for the license.

The Register of Deeds can be reached at (252) 475-5970, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call first for details.

Please contact the town in which your ceremony will be held regarding any additional permits or restrictions.

If you are planning a wedding in Corolla or Ocracoke, remember, those areas are not located in Dare County. You will need to contact the Currituck County Register of Deeds for Corolla, at (252) 232-3297. For Ocracoke, the Hyde County Register of Deeds can be reached at (252) 926-3011.
