2013 Seafood Festival Coming October 18 - 19, 2013
Mark your calendars. The date has been set for the 2nd Annual Outer Banks Seafood Festival, which will be held outdoors on Saturday, October 19, 2013 with the kickoff party being held the previous day on Friday October 18th. Both events will be held on the 10 acre soundfront Outer Banks Event Site in Nags Head. The Saturday event features top draw entertainment mixed with great cooking of fresh, local seafood, a bit of education and storytelling about the region's fishing heritage, cooking demonstrations, local craftspeople, and a whole lot of family fun. Nearly 20 local restaurants have committed to serve their signature dishes featuring fish and seafood caught along the Outer Banks -- resulting in an unmatched "fusion-style" (small portion sizes) sampling from some of the best restaurants on the beach. The inaugural festival was held October 20, 2012 under clear blue skies, 70 degree temperatures and ideal conditions for a waterfront festival on the Roanoke Sound. Estimates for attendance have ranged from 8,000 to 10,000 people at the height of the afternoon. Anyone there will tell you that the site was jamming with people, activity, great musical groups, cooking demonstrations, old fishing boats, great arts and crafts vendors, excellent Outer Banks seafood, local non-profits, and even a Corolla Wild Horse. This event was made possible with the partnership between the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, Outer Banks Catch, Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce, Town of Nags Head, Towne Bank and the Outer Banks Seafood Festival Committee.
