| Save The Date! Outer Banks Signature Events you don't want to miss |
2010 Outer Banks TriathlonSeptember 18-19 The Outer Banks Triathlon will be held September 18-19 with two days of events for different skill levels. If you enjoy endurance events, then the OBX course should stand out for several reasons. The swimming component is particularly nice with easy access to the slightly brackish waters of the Croatan Sound with temperatures spot on in the 70's. There are plenty of trees and shelter for spectators or family supporters. The cycling component is nice in that you cross over from Roanoke Island to the mainland and back over a long span bridge, making for great speed and killer views. There have also been recent highway improvements laying fresh black asphalt for much of the course, and a mix of great natural forest settings and charming residential. Lots of flat road for easy running. Saturday will feature a half distance triathlon and Sunday will be an Olympic and Sprint! The course is laid out between northern Roanoke Island, near Manteo, and the North Carolina mainland community of Mann's Harbor.
