Outer Banks Fiber Guild: Fiber Fantastic
Art Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park. The Outer Banks Fiber Guild contributes a variety of fiber works to the show including weavings for decorative and functional purposes. Visitors will be able to see how far artists can stretch their craft from creating delicate hand towels to large wall coverings. It is an eclectic show that will include stunning wearable art. An opening reception will be held on November 2 from 4-6 p.m. It is free and open to the public. The show can be seen Monday- Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call (252) 475-1500.

Wings Over Water
Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge. The premier birding & nature festival on the Outer Banks, offering over 100 birding, paddling & natural history tours throughout eastern North Carolina. For more information visit wingsoverwater.org

First Friday

Rodney Mack
4 pm. Art Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park. The sound of Rodney Mack’s trumpet has reverberated throughout the world. Whether playing baroque piccolo trumpet or interpreting works commissioned especially for him, his artistry has been enthusiastically enjoyed in the United States, France, Spain, Germany, England, Greece, Rumania, Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. He has been praised by music critics from Fanfare Magazine, American Record Guide, Records International Catalog, and other international publications for his evocative interpretation, impeccable virtuosity, and beauty of sound. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Rodney Mack has worked under the guidance of world-renowned conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gerard Schwarz, James DePreist, and John Williams. He was awarded a fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center where he was invited to return for a second summer during which he was awarded the Seiji Ozawa Award for Outstanding Musicianship.
